Apple is on a roll right now, churning out new products with seemingly care-free abandon. They recently just released the new line of Apple Watches and now they are releasing not one, not two, not three but FOUR phones. The release of the 12 series is the largest combined rollout of iPhones that Apple has ever done. The new iPhones include the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Mini, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Today, we are just focusing on the two versions due for stock released and being featured on LeaseVille.com on 10/23/2020, the iPhone 12 & 12 pro.
So, what should we be looking out for?...
The Design
Remember those days where suddenly everyone wanted curved tech? Well, technology moves fast, and it seems we have made our way back to a retro, blockier, straight-edged design once more.
The new iPhones both take similar design paths to the iPhone 5 and 5S, as an aluminum band (Stainless-steel on the Pro) wraps around the outside of the block. Due to the more structured block feel, the screen no longer wraps towards the edge of the phone either. The screen has also moved away from the previous LCD displays and is now OLED across the 12 series. Apple has also confirmed that the screens have a special ceramic layering, or shield, as they call it. What this does, according to Apple, is give the iPhone 12 screens around 4 times more protection when being dropped than any previous model, which, if you are anything like me, will certainly come in handy!
Color-wise, the iPhone 12 is offered in a variety of eye-catching colors from a darkened navy-like blue, a pastel green to the original black. Keeping with their recent tradition of colors, the iPhone 12 is also offered in (PRODUCT)RED as well.
Features
It is amazingly easy to get swept up in Apple releases, especially when it is a new flagship phone, but what are you actually going to be getting for your money?
The first big new feature is the iPhone 12’s 5G ability. Now, this obviously means that when connected to a 5G network the downloading speed when streaming will be super quick in comparison to anything before it. However, even though this is a major step in the future of iPhones, it must be noted that this is going to be more of a feature that gets better with age. We say this because the main sources of 5G networks are in the major cities, so if you go outside of these areas, it becomes difficult to truly take advantage of this new feature. So, the longer people keep this phone the better it will get, as a wider variety of 5G networks will start cropping up.
It is also worth noting that the 5G use on the iPhone 12 does drain your battery quite significantly, and as we are all aware, the life of an iPhone battery is not a particularly long one in the first place. Apple does counter this slightly with a new data saver feature, where the phone can switch to 4G if the higher speed is not necessary for the data task.
Next, we move to the camera - which is always a big feature plus with the latest iPhone releases. The iPhone 12 offers a dual camera with features such as night mode, wide cameras, and 4K HDR recording. The iPhone 12 Pro offers the extra telephoto camera and LiDar scanner, which helps when recognizing and modeling objects in the shot.
The final big feature to look over is the new A14 Bionic chip. This is a brand-new release in these iPhones and boasts the impressive title of being the fastest ever chip in a smartphone. Apple confirms that the new chip gives a CPU boost of 40 percent and a big improvement in the graphics.
Cost
So, what is all this wonderful new technology going to cost you? The unlocked iPhone 12 starts off at $49/week with the unlocked iPhone 12 Pro starting at $60/week to lease to own on LeaseVille.com.
Our thoughts
Should you stick or twist?
Well, it is difficult to give a full review to only half of the newly released iPhones, as we are still awaiting the iPhone 12 Mini and the 12 Pro Max. However, the new iPhone 12 and 12 Pro certainly offer up excitement and a marked difference in performance to any previous iPhone series. We will await the further release before giving a conclusive thumbs up or thumbs down, but the early signs are promising.
