A Guide to Marine Binoculars
With large objectives and a high magnification, the Kowa 10x50 SV II Binoculars are optimized for long-range observations in all light conditions—from the predawn hours all the way through the last light of dusk.
To deliver its performance, Kowa employs anti-reflection fully multi-coated lens coatings on the oversized 50mm objectives, phase-correction coatings on the roof prisms, and oil-resistant exterior lens coatings that work together to keep the lenses clean and produce crisp, clear, and bright high-contrast images with accurate color representation. Added to this performance are an impressive eye relief and wide exit pupil that make the SV II comfortable to look through for long periods of time without causing eyestrain or the view to be vignetted even as light fades.
Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make these binoculars durable and comfortable to use. They have a lightweight polycarbonate chassis and are protected by rubberized armor that gives it a secure nonslip grip even in cold and wet conditions. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature variations and environmental conditions. A one-piece ocular rainguard covers the eyecups as the binoculars hang around the neck and prevent rain and spraying water from filling them, and they attache to the included neck strap to prevent them from being lost on the forest floor.

Optical Performance
High 10x power brings distant subjects in close for detailed observations
Large 50mm objective lenses are optimized for low light to provide bright and clear views from dawn to dusk and ensure that views remain crisp and clear when observing at extreme distance
Roof prism light path produces a compact form factor without sacrificing performance
Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics improve light transmission, color rendition, clarity, and contrast
Phase-correcting prism coatings eliminate internal light diffraction to improve clarity and contrast
285-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
Closed-bridge configuration provides a solid and stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
Large rubber-coated center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate, even in cold and wet conditions or when wearing gloves
58.5-72mm interpupillary distance adjustment range enables easy use by people of all sizes
Right-eye dioptric correction allows the user to fine-tune the focusing to their individual eyesight—even if they wear corrective lenses
Integrated 1/4"-20 threaded adapter socket on front of bridge hinge allows the optic to be tripod mounted with an optional adapter
Twist-up multi-position rubber eyecups for comfortable use and correct eye relief, with or without eyewear
Exceptional 19.5mm eye relief reduces eyestrain and improves overall viewing comfort, especially during long observation sessions
Wide 5mm exit pupil will cover pupils as they open and fully dilate in low light, ensuring the entire scene remains in view without vignetting
Construction Details
Impact-resistant polycarbonate chassis reduces weight without sacrificing strength and stability
Chassis material is temperature resistant, preventing the expansion and contraction that is common with metal, which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time and prevent sharp focus
Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes or environmental conditions
Protective rubber armor provides a slip-resistant grip
Oil-resistant KR exterior lens coatings make it easy for dirt, sap, and oil to be easily cleaned off without smudges or residue
One-piece tethered ocular rainguard protects eyecups from water pooling in them from rain or spraying water when hanging from the neck
