Get yourself a pro-audio monitoring solution with this KRK Classic 5 Nearfield Monitoring Kit, bundled together by B&H for your convenience. The kit offers essential items for monitoring audio in your studio, such as monitors, XLR cables, a monitor controller, and isolation pads to keep the monitors from coupling with your desk or speaker stands.
The monitors themselves offer 5" woofers, 1" tweeters, and a frequency response of 43 Hz to 40 kHz. These sound slightly more flat and refined when compared to 5" KRK monitors of yesteryear, but you can get that original KRK bass-forward sound with a flip of a switch.
Use the included passive monitor controller to sit between your interface and your monitors, so you can turn the level up and down without coloring the sound. Use the supplied foam speaker pads to decouple the monitors from your desk, keeping your audio pristine and accurate in the process. Two cables are included to route audio from your inteface to your monitors.
The KRK Classic 5 is a 2-way near-field monitor suitable for critical listening and mixing. The monitor leverages technology from its predecessor in the ROKIT series, but gives you DSP settings that are geared for achieving more accurate mixes in the common studio or home-studio environment. However, you can still get that proud, bass-forward KRK sound out of these monitors if you switch on the +2 dB KRK Bass Boost. This setting holds true to the tone professionals over the world have come to love for years and years.
The monitor provides a 5" glass-aramid composite woofer, a 1" soft-dome tweeter, and a waveguide that facilitates both an accurate sound and a flexible listening position. A Class-AB amplifier with a built-in limiter lets you achieve clean, loud levels of up to 104 dB SPL. A front-slotted bass port reduces bass buildup from boundary coupling, allowing you to place the monitor wherever you need it.
Connect to the monitor via 1/4", XLR, or RCA jacks. You'll find hardware controls on the rear of the monitor over volume and LF and HF equalization. Power the monitor with a standard IEC cable.
The black Kopul Premium Performance 3000 Series XLR Male to XLR Female Microphone Cable (6') is designed to be an extremely quiet and flexible cable that is ideal for the most demanding live sound and performance applications. The cable is engineered to be durable and provide protection against EMI, RFI, and static noise. While the cable's color-coding affords the ability to quickly differentiate between multiple connections on stage, it provides a pleasant aesthetic quality at the same time.
Premium Performance 3000 Series cables are made from 24-AWG OFC copper wire that's wrapped with PE insulation and a conductive PVC inner shield. A cotton-yarn inner layer helps reduce electrostatic and microphonic noise. The 95% dual-spiral shielding makes the cable resistant to EMI and RFI noise. The Neutrik XX silver connectors provide a high level of connectivity, and all the solder connections are shrink-wrapped for protection.
Designed to sit between the output of your computer and the input of your powered speakers, the Polsen VCP-2 is a passive volume controller, one that offers a prominent dial for adjusting the level (or "volume") of audio. The design is passive, meaning no powered circuitry will color the sound. Operating at line level, the unit is suitable for use in a variety of scenarios, such as project studios, pro-audio studios, or even home environments.
On the input side, you'll find combination XLR-1/4" TRS jacks to interface with a variety of pro and consumer-grade equipment. Output connections are made possible thanks to two balanced 1/4" jacks; here is where you'll make the connection from the VCP-2 to your powered speakers.
The VCP-2 sports a steel construction that's both rugged and reliable. Taking up only 2 x 5.3 x 3.3" of space, the unit is relatively compact. It's also lightweight, weighing only 11.8 oz.
The small IP-S Isolation Pad from Auray is a monitor speaker isolation pad made from high-density acoustic foam. It is designed to decouple your monitor speakers from its resting surface by absorbing the monitor's vibrations. This stops reverberation through the desk or speaker stands, therefore preventing unwanted resonance. Removing these unwelcome vibrations results in greater depth of field, tighter low end and transient response, and a higher level of detail across the frequency spectrum.
